Dear Friends in Christ,

On Sunday we embark together on the most important journey of your life. It's the journey that Jesus undertakes, and He calls you to walk with Him.

Walk with Jesus through the streets of Jerusalem. Join with the crowds in singing and shouting, "Hosanna in the Highest, blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord!"

Walk with Jesus to the Upper Room. Join with the disciples in being served by Jesus, in eating and drinking His body and blood for your forgiveness and life.

Walk with Jesus to Gethsemane. Join with Peter, James, and John in watching and praying, "Thy will be done."

Walk with Jesus to the courts of the Jews and the Gentiles alike. Join with Pilate in marveling at Jesus' silent submission as He is put on trial.

Walk with Jesus to the cross. Join with the Centurion in watching His death and proclaiming Him to be the Son of God.

Walk with Jesus to the empty tomb. Join with the women in hearing the joyful news that Jesus is risen from the dead.

This is the journey of your life, from joy and celebration among the crowds, to an intimate dinner with friends, from an anguished prayer and time of testing, even to death itself, but ultimately to resurrection and life.

Don't miss a step. Don't miss a chapter of the story. It all hangs together.

We walk with Jesus, and we also walk together. Encourage your fellow travelers and pray for them, especially those who lead you along the way and those who struggle to keep up and are falling behind. Greet warmly and welcome those who are new to the journey and just joining in.

Have a blessed journey. Have a blessed Holy Week.

In Christ,

Pr. Mark Birkholz
